On January 23, 2026, the Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University, held a commemorative event to celebrate its 49th anniversary. The celebration began with a traditional merit-making ceremony to bring auspiciousness, followed by the 2025 Outstanding Staff and Role Model Teacher Award Ceremony. The event aimed to honor and enhance the morale of personnel who play a vital role in driving the institute’s continued success.
Associate Professor Dr. Chalat Santivarangkna, Director of the Institute of Nutrition, presided over the ceremony. The event was attended by institute advisors, heads of various departments within Mahidol University, and staff members. The program commenced with a Buddhist chanting ceremony, followed by the presentation of awards recognizing individuals for their dedication and significant contributions to the institute’s sustainable development.
In the evening, a special academic session, “The 5th Professor Aree Valyasevi Memorial Lecture,” was held. This year’s distinguished guest speaker was Professor Christina Economos, Ph.D., Dean of the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, Tufts University, USA. She delivered a keynote lecture entitled “Whole-of-Community Approaches to Prevent Childhood Obesity,” sharing valuable insights and strategies on preventing childhood obesity through community-level interventions.
