Assoc. Professor Chalat Santivarangkna, the Director of Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University has joined WHO Alliance for Food Safety – Inception meeting WHO Headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland on 6-8 May 2024, which is organized in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) | CDC Division of Foodborne Waterborne and Environmental Disease (DFWED)
This alliance was created to accelerate progress in surveillance of foodborne diseases (FBD) and food contamination supporting one of the key areas of the WHO Global Strategy for Food Safety 2022-2030 using the collective expertise of WHO Collaborating Centres and other partners to move this agenda forward. The inception meeting has the objectives: 1. Development of the Terms of Reference of the WHO Alliance for Food Safety identifying its value add in the area of foodborne diseases surveillance and 2. Development of a draft work plan 2023-2030 to help countries meet the WHO target of foodborne disease surveillance by 2030.
