
Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University hosted a technical workshop, “Information of Asian Traditional Foods,” from 28 July to 3 August 2025 at its Demonstration Kitchen. The event was part of the Asian Food Composition Database Plus (AFCD+) project, supported by Asian Food and Agriculture Cooperation Initiative (AFACI).
AFCD+ promotes regional collaboration to develop food composition databases reflecting traditional foods and dietary cultures across Asia. These databases support healthy eating, agricultural value addition, and national nutrition planning.
Representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, and Thailand joined hands-on cooking sessions to collect data for the upcoming publication, “Asian Traditional Foods.”
Besides technical exchange in nutrition, the workshop strengthened international ties, preserved food biodiversity and cultural heritage, and contributed to sustainable public health and nutrition planning in Asia.
