Mahidol University’s Institute of Nutrition Teams Up with EGAT Srinagarind Dam to Bring Nutrition Education to Life Through Board Games

Kanchanaburi, July 25, 2025 – Institute of Nutrition Mahidol University (INMU) in partnership with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) at Srinagarind Dam, recently held a fun and educational event under the theme “Empowering Young Minds with Nutrition for Lifelong Health”. The event aimed to spark children’s interest in healthy eating and nutrition through hands-on learning.

Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaowanee Chupeerach, Head of the Human Nutrition Unit, and a team of expert instructors, the activity introduced creative ways to learn about nutrition, most notably through board games. These games were specially designed to teach children how to read nutrition labels, choose healthy ingredients, and discover the health benefits of local edible plants found around Srinagarind Dam.

One of the highlights was the board game “The Planstery: Botanical Puzzle for Health,” which helped kids connect with nature and health in a fun, interactive way. Other games developed for the project made learning about food and nutrition both easy to understand and enjoyable.

This collaboration between Mahidol University and EGAT shows how academic institutions and government agencies can work together to create meaningful learning experiences. By bringing education beyond the classroom, the project helps inspire healthier habits and lifelong well-being by starting with the younger generation in local communities.
