On June 18, 2025, the Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University, together with the Agricultural Research Development Agency (ARDA), held a conference titled “Medical Foods and Special Purpose Foods: Challenges and Opportunities” at The Berkeley Hotel, Bangkok. The event, part of the “RAINS for Medical & Functional Food Valley” initiative, featured opening remarks from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalat Santivarangkna (Director of Institute of Nutrition), Ms. Kunvara Chotiphansophon (Deputy Director of ARDA), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat (Vice President for Research at Mahidol University).
The conference aimed to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and boost Thailand’s health food industry through presentations on market trends, strategic development, clinical testing, dietitian perspectives, and regulatory processes for medical and special purpose foods. Attendees from government, academia, and industry engaged in discussions to support Thailand’s ambition to become a regional leader in health food innovation.
