
On March 27, 2025, the Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University (INMU) successfully hosted a highly informative webinar on “Methodological Approaches for Nutrient Recommendations: WHO and EFSA.” The event attracted over 160 participants from across the globe, including representatives from national agencies, nutrition experts, and policymakers.
The webinar featured two distinguished speakers:
🔹 Dr. Jason Montez, Scientist at the World Health Organization (WHO), who presented on “Methodological Approaches Used in Updating FAO-WHO Nutrient Intake Values for Infants and Young Children.”
🔹 Dr. Agnes de Sesmaisons, Senior Scientific Officer at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), who discussed “EFSA’s Methods to Establish Dietary Reference Values.”
Throughout the session, attendees engaged in thought-provoking discussions on the importance of robust methodologies in establishing nutrient recommendations. The insights shared by the speakers highlighted the critical role of evidence-based approaches in ensuring nutrient adequacy for healthy populations worldwide.
