On Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 9:00 a.m., Associate Professor Dr. Songsak Srianuchart, President of Thai Society of ToxicologChaired the opening of the 13th National Conference in Toxicology (NCT13) on “Toxicology in BCG Policies of Thailand” by the Thai Society of Toxicology in collaboration with the Institute of Nutrition Mahidol University National
Cancer Institute, the Thai Society of Clinical Toxicology, the Thai Environmental Mutagen Society, Thailand Risk Assessment Centre, and Thailand Lab International hosted the meeting between 6-7 September 2022 at room MR 224-225 BITEC Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangna, Bangkok. There were approximately 111 people attending the meeting.
The purpose of this meeting was to create an understanding of the role of toxicologists in order to be in line with the new direction in driving the Thai economy under the concept of “BCG Model (Bio-Circular-Green Economy)” which is a holistic development. Focus on economic development in 3 dimensions, namely: Bio Economy, Circular Economy and Green Economy using science, technology and innovation to strengthen the country’s strengths, break down limitations, create added value for a leap forward development and revive the economy and society in a sustainable way. Therefore, developing a new type of economy under the BCG economic model is a challenge and an opportunity for the business sector. especially in the agricultural and food sectors that must develop the business along with considering consumer safety
For this reason, This NCT13, It has gathered the knowledge of toxicologists with experience in research studies consistent with the BCG economic model, such as alternative proteins. Safety of cell cultured food Agricultural practices under the concept of circular economy and green economy National policies and strategies related to BCG and driving announcements/regulations regarding the use of recycled packaging materials, etc.
